It has a rich history too first opening in 1816! What makes Musselburgh Racecourse so special in our eyes though is the track. Or should we say what’s inside the track! In the middle of the course is a nine-hole golf course! Interestingly enough, the golf course was founded before the horse racing track was! It dates back as far as 1672!

As you may expect then, Musselburgh Racecourse is one of the larger racecourses around. It has a distance of around two miles and is long and circular in shape. Given its proximity to the coast, Musselburgh Racecourse is one of the harsher racecourses in the UK. Jockeys are often left to the mercy of the weather, which often produces strong winds.
